In Zarzouqa in Deir el Ahmar, the ESFD completed the implementation of an irrigation project that consisted of:

- Conveying water from the catchment of Zarzouqa Spring to the hill lake of Ain el Naanaa through the installation of around 750 linear meter of gravity pipelines.

-Rehabilitating and equipping the existing water well with a 60 hp pump.

This EU funded project amounting to EUR 137,252 was completed in July 2018.

This project contributed to the increase of irrigation water. As a result, the surface of the cultivated lands is expected to increase from 600,000 m2 to around 900,000 m2, covering Ain el Naanaa and the surrounding villages such as Deir el Ahmar and Aynata.
